RWS, Rider-Waite or Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot
Yes, they are essentially the same.
- Rider-Waite Tarot is the more common term for the deck.
- Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot is a more specific name that acknowledges the contributions of both Arthur Edward Waite (who conceptualized the deck) and Pamela Colman Smith (who illustrated it)
- RWS Tarot is the common abbreviation for the deck, and much easier to write.
So, while there’s a slight difference in naming, they all refer to the same iconic tarot deck that has been a foundation for countless tarot readers and enthusiasts.
Light and Love. ❤️
