Recognizing Your Familiar

In today’s blog post, I am following up on the conversation about Familiars that started with the post What is a Familiar?

Once you’ve been introduced to the concept of familiars, you may be wondering how would you even recognize a potential familiar? While there’s no one-size-fits-all approach, here are some common signs that an animal, object, or other entity might be your familiar.

Animal Familiars

• Unexpected connection: You may feel an unusually strong or immediate connection to a particular animal, even if it’s a species you’ve never been particularly drawn to before.
• Synchronicity: You may notice synchronicities related to the animal, such as seeing it repeatedly or having dreams about it. Sometimes you may see an animal randomly, yet you have a feeling of déjà vu each time it appears.
• Intuition: Trust your intuition. If you feel a deep connection to an animal, it could be a sign that it’s your familiar.

Object Familiars

• Emotional connection: You may feel a strong emotional connection to a particular object. This could be a family heirloom or an object with no particular value or sentimental significance.
• Synchronicity: You may notice synchronicities related to the object, such as finding it unexpectedly or having dreams about it. Has there ever been an item that you continually misplace and then it turns up?
• Intuition: Trust your intuition. If you feel a deep connection to an object, it could be a sign that it’s your familiar.

Elemental or Astral Familiars

• Energy connection: You may feel a strong energetic connection to a particular element or astral entity.
• Synchronicity: You may notice synchronicities related to the element or entity, such as experiencing recurring dreams or visions. An example would be feeling a breeze or hearing leaves rustling when it isn’t windy, yet the situation you’re in has you on notice so that you recognize that the air is trying to communicate with you.
• Intuition: Trust your intuition. If you feel a deep connection to an element or astral entity, it could be a sign that it’s your familiar.

General Signs

• Intuition and inner knowing: Ultimately, the strongest sign of a familiar is your own intuition and inner knowing. If you feel a deep connection to something or someone, it could be a sign that it’s your familiar.
• Dreams and visions: Pay attention to your dreams and visions. They may offer clues about your familiar or the nature of your connection.
• Synchronicity: Be open to synchronicities. They can be powerful signs of a spiritual connection. As the saying goes; ‘There are no coincidences.’

There’s no right or wrong way to recognize a familiar. The most important thing is to trust your intuition and follow your heart. If you believe something is your familiar, explore the connection and see where it leads.
