Creating a Sanctuary Where You Feel Safe

It’s essential to have a sanctuary where you can relax, recharge, and feel safe. One way to create such a space is by cleansing and protecting it from negative energy. I’m currently putting together a Protection Bundle which includes black obsidian, selenite, salt and Palo Santo. As I researched what to include in my Protection Bundle, I realized that there are many methods to create a protected, safe and positive space; inspiring today’s post.

The elements of protection are pretty simple: cleanse negativity, invite in positive energy, create and maintain a protective barrier. How you do that is up to you! This blog post will guide you through the process of creating a protective sanctuary using various methods, including crystals, plants, smudging, and more.

Cleansing and Protecting Your Space

  1. Physical Objects:
    • Wind chimes: The gentle sound of wind chimes can disrupt negative energy. (maybe this is why I love them so much!)
    • Salt: Placing salt in corners and doorways is a classic method of warding off negativity, and even simple table salt works!
    • Crystals: Crystals like black obsidian, selenite, and amethyst are known for their protective properties.
    • Protective symbols: Symbols such as the Hamsa hand, the Eye of Horus, the Om symbol, or a Cross, can be used to ward off evil.
    • Plants: Certain plants, like sage, rosemary, and lavender, have cleansing and protective qualities.
  2. Practices:
    • Smudging: Burning herbs like sage or palo santo can cleanse the air and remove negative energy.
    • Incense: Burning incense can also purify and protect a space.
    • Meditation: Regular meditation can create a positive and protective energy field.
    • Visualization: Imagine a protective bubble of light surrounding you and the ones you love, and your space.
    • Affirmations: Repeat positive affirmations to reinforce your intention to create a protective sanctuary.
  3. Energy Clearing Techniques:
    • Sound therapy: Using sound bowls or tuning forks can help clear negative energy.
    • Feng shui: Arranging objects in your space according to feng shui principles can promote positive energy flow.
    • Energy healing techniques: Techniques like Reiki or Qi Gong can balance and harmonize the energy in a space.

Creating a Personal Sanctuary

  • Choose your space: Select a room or corner of your home that you can dedicate to your sanctuary.
  • Decorate with intention: Surround yourself with objects that bring you joy and peace.
  • Create a calming atmosphere: Use soft lighting, soothing colors, and comfortable seating.
  • Practice self-care: Make time for activities that nourish your mind, body, and soul.

By incorporating these methods and practices with intention into your daily life, you can create a protective and harmonious sanctuary. The most important thing is to choose the practices that resonate with you and make you feel at peace. Experiment with different techniques and find what works best for your unique needs.
