A Poem for the First Day of Winter

The solstice whispers, a breath on the breeze,
The sun's long slumber, a soul at ease.
The earth descends, in a blanket of white,
A time for reflection, a mystical night.

The seeds of slumber, deep in the ground,
Await the rebirth, where life will be found.
The darkness descends, a cloak for the soul,
To heal and to grow, to make us whole.

But hope remains, a flicker of light,
Guiding us onward, through the long night.
For winter's embrace, a necessary sleep,
Before the rebirth, when new life will leap.

So let us embrace, this quietude deep,
And nurture the seeds, while the old world does sleep.
For in the darkness, a new life takes hold,
A story unfolding, a future untold.
