Key Differences Explained

With the new year, there are always lots of videos, podcasts, etc. that are all about predictions for the year ahead and I have been tuning into a few different ones just for fun. Among them, I landed on some videos from Suzanne Guisemann. In one of these which was a podcast, the topic of mediumship and channeling came up.

First, if you aren’t familiar with Suzanne Guisemann, I would strongly recommend looking her up. She has an amazing story! She is a former Navy Commander who served as a commanding officer and aide to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. She is now a metaphysical teacher and medium. Let’s explore the differences between channeling and mediumship.

Both channeling and mediumship involve connecting with entities beyond the physical realm, but they differ significantly in their approach and purpose.

Channeling:

  • Focus: Channeling primarily involves receiving and conveying messages from a higher consciousness, such as a spirit guide, an ascended master, or even a collective consciousness.
  • Process: The channel acts as a conduit, allowing the higher consciousness to express itself through their voice, writing, or even physical movements.
  • Purpose: Channeling often aims to impart wisdom, guidance, or teachings. The messages may address universal truths, personal growth, or global events.
  • Examples: Famous examples of channeled works include the “Seth Books” by Jane Roberts and the teachings of Edgar Cayce. Sylvia Brown and Darryl Anka are also recognized for their channeling.

Mediumship:

  • Focus: Mediumship focuses on connecting with the spirits of the dead and mediating communications between the spirits and living human beings. You would work with a medium to speak to a deceased loved one.
  • Process: Mediums use their intuitive abilities to receive messages, often including personal details, emotions, and even physical sensations associated with the departed.
  • Purpose: The primary purpose of mediumship is to provide comfort, closure, and healing for the bereaved.
  • Examples: Mediums often work in private readings, group demonstrations, or charity events.

Ultimately, both channeling and mediumship invite us to explore the mysteries of consciousness and the Interconnectedness of all beings. Whether you are drawn to the wisdom of higher consciousness or seeking comfort from loved ones beyond, these practices can offer profound insights and transformative experiences.

I hope this post has sparked your curiosity and provided a valuable overview of the differences between channeling and mediumship.
