Tips for Recognizing Guidance
Currently, I am doing the Ask Your Guides course by Sonia Choquette. I have followed Sonia’s work as a best selling author and spiritual teacher, and even had a reading from her many, many years ago. I still remember her words to me “God knows what you want’. Her style reminds me of a behavior therapist, where she highlights the self sabotage that many of us engage in, but she is reading it on a soul level.
In one of the recent lessons, she talks about recognizing how you receive spiritual insights. Do you hear messages? You may be clairaudient. Do you see pictures? You may be clairvoyant. I am claircognizant; simply put, I just know things. It also means that I am surprisingly good at multiple choice questions and games like Trivial Pursuit. 🙂
This lesson sparked an important revelation for me on an issue that has been bouncing around in my head. Without appropriate awareness, it’s easy to write off the flashes of insight that ‘I just know’ particularly if they aren’t things I want to know. Recognizing spiritual insights for what they are is something I’m being called to do right now, even when I can’t physically or tangibly prove it out, or the idea seems far fetched. I’m being called to start listening, or perhaps, to listen more closely and to recognize what I ‘know’ as messages from my spirit guides and to trust those messages rather than dismiss them. This is the inspiration for today’s post. Perhaps there will be some insight in this post for you too.

We all have access to guidance from the spiritual realm, but often we miss it. Our spirit guides, angels, and higher selves are constantly trying to communicate with us, offering wisdom and support. The key is to recognize the different ways they choose to transmit information. Here are a few common forms of clairvoyance:
- Clairaudience: Hearing inner voices, whispers, or even distinct messages. This can range from subtle intuitions to clear auditory messages.
- Clairvoyance: Seeing visions, flashes of images, or even glimpses of the future or past. This can include seeing colors, symbols, or even people.
- Claircognizance: Knowing things without any apparent reason. This is a sudden and undeniable knowing, a deep inner certainty about a situation or decision.
- Clairsentience: Feeling emotions that don’t belong to you. This could be a sudden wave of sadness, joy, or anxiety that seems to come from nowhere.
- Clairsalience: Tasting or smelling things that have no physical origin. This could be a sudden craving for a particular food, or the distinct scent of a loved one who has passed.
Why Recognition Matters:
It’s crucial to recognize these subtle forms of communication. When we dismiss them as “just our imagination,” we cut ourselves off from valuable guidance and support.
- Increased Trust: Recognizing and trusting your intuition builds a stronger connection to your higher self and deepens your trust in the guidance you receive.
- Improved Decision-Making: When you can discern guidance from your intuition, you can make more informed and aligned decisions.
- Enhanced Self-Awareness: Paying attention to these subtle cues helps you become more aware of your inner world and the messages that are constantly being transmitted to you.
Tips for Tuning In:
- Practice mindfulness: Spend time in quiet contemplation, allowing yourself to become more aware of your inner sensations.
- Keep a journal: Record any intuitive insights, dreams, or unusual experiences.
- Trust your gut: Pay attention to your gut feelings and instincts. They often hold valuable wisdom.
- Be open to receiving: Cultivate a sense of openness and receptivity to the messages that are coming through.
By recognizing the different ways your spirit guides communicate and cultivating an open and receptive mind, you can begin to tap into the wealth of wisdom and support available to you.
