A Sacred Space for Reflection and Intention

I am currently doing an online course with Sonia Choquette on connecting with my guides. One of her lessons talks about establishing a dedicated meditation space and suggests creating an altar for that space. I have multiple displays of crystals in my house that are also altars, but I need to create something more oriented to connecting with my guides. This is the inspiration for today’s post.

An altar is a sacred space where you can connect with your spirituality, set intentions, and find peace and tranquility. It can be as simple or elaborate as you like, and it can be adapted to fit any belief system.

Choosing a Location It’s important to choose a location for your altar that feels peaceful and inviting. It could be a corner of your bedroom, a windowsill, or a dedicated space in your living room. The key is to find a place where you can feel comfortable and focused.

Gathering Your Supplies There are no hard and fast rules about what you can include on your altar. The most important thing is to choose items that have personal meaning for you. Some common altar items include:

  • Candles: Candles represent light, hope, and intention.
  • Crystals: Crystals are believed to have healing and protective properties.
  • Natural elements: Natural elements such as feathers, shells, and stones can be used to connect with nature.
  • Trinkets and mementos: Trinkets and mementos can be used to represent your personal beliefs and values.

Creating Your Altar Once you have gathered your supplies, you can begin to create your altar. There are no right or wrong ways to do this. The most important thing is to let your intuition guide you.

Using Your Altar Your altar can be used for a variety of purposes. You can use it to meditate, pray, set intentions, or simply to enjoy its peaceful presence.

Altar and Religious Beliefs Many people are concerned that creating an altar may conflict with their religious beliefs. However, an altar can be a tool for connecting with your spirituality, regardless of your religion. It is important to remember that an altar is a personal space and should be used in a way that feels meaningful and respectful to you.

Additional Tips

  • Keep your altar clean and tidy.
  • Light a candle or incense when you use your altar.
  • Spend a few minutes each day meditating or praying at your altar.
  • Use your altar to set intentions for the day or week.
  • Use your altar as a sacred space for tarot reading or oracle card reading

An altar is a beautiful way to connect with your spirituality and create a sacred space in your home.
