There are many, many books on the tarot. Some are historic, many are instructional and it’s important to remember that an abundance of these book offer only the viewpoint of the author, which may or may not be consistent with the view of others.
Philippe St. Genoux is the author of Tarot: How to re-create yourself with a deck of cards and other meditations. from Black Dog Books, 2015. The author has a unique and playful approach to tarot that is not about predicting the future, rather about using the cards to look inward and discover how you can create a life that is closer to your heart`s desire. Reviews of the book enthusiastic in their praise, 5-stars for most, although they are hard to find.
This isn’t meant to be a book review – particularly because I was not able to find a copy of it available online anywhere! And after looking at the reviews and comments, I do think I would like to read it. I simply found the quote to resonate and wanted to share.
Tarot and the questions that you ask your deck can be a very useful tool in self discovery. My beliefs, which are based on my spiritualism and spirituality, are that our lives on earth are a limited piece of our soul’s journey. Similar to exercise, resistance or challenges, builds strength, character and resilience. A variety of experiences in life, especially what we consider negative experiences, can create empathy, compassion and understanding. You need to know yourself in order to know others, and your tarot practice can help you discover yourself.
