Exploring The Pros and Cons of Online, Pre-made, or DIY

Embarking on a journey with #tarot cards often involves the desire to document and reflect on the insights gained during readings. Whether you are seeking #self-discovery or #self-care, choosing the right tarot journal is a crucial step in this process. In this blog post, we’ll explore the pros and cons of three popular options: online versions, pre-made journals, and the DIY approach.

  1. Online Tarot Journals:Pros:
    • Accessibility: Online journals can be accessed from various devices, making it convenient for users who prefer digital platforms.
    • Search Functionality: Easily search and organize past entries, facilitating quick reference and pattern recognition.
    • Integration with Technology: Some platforms offer features like syncing with calendar apps, providing seamless integration into your digital life.
    Cons:
    • Dependency on Technology: Relying on digital platforms may pose a challenge during moments when a tangible connection with your tarot practice is desired.
    • Privacy Concerns: Users may have concerns about the security and privacy of their personal reflections stored online.
  2. Pre-made Tarot Journals:Pros:
    • Aesthetic Appeal: Many pre-made journals feature beautiful illustrations and layouts, enhancing the overall tarot experience.
    • Guided Structure: Pre-made journals often include prompts or guidance, which can be helpful for those new to tarot journaling.
    • Time-Saving: Ideal for users who prefer a ready-made solution without the effort of designing or organizing a journal.
    Cons:
    • Lack of Personalization: Pre-made journals may not cater to individual preferences or specific tarot practices.
    • Limited Flexibility: Some users may find the structure of pre-made journals restrictive, hindering the creative aspect of tarot journaling.
  3. DIY Tarot Journals:Pros:
    • Total Customization: Create a journal that aligns perfectly with your aesthetic preferences and tarot practice.
    • Flexibility: Design your journal to accommodate various tarot spreads, personal notes, and additional elements that suit your needs.
    • Artistic Expression: DIY journals allow for creative expression through illustrations, colors, and layouts.
    Cons:
    • Time and Effort: Designing and maintaining a DIY journal requires time and effort, which might be a drawback for those seeking a quick solution.
    • Skill Required: Some individuals may feel overwhelmed by the prospect of creating a visually appealing and organized journal.

Choosing the right tarot journal ultimately depends on your personal preferences, lifestyle, and goals. Whether you opt for the accessibility of an online version, the structured simplicity of a pre-made journal, or the artistic freedom of a DIY approach, the key is to find a journal that resonates with your unique tarot journey.

Great question! I know a lot of readers like journals for Tarot. They’ve never really worked for me. What I’ve done instead is to use a loose-leaf notebook with a sheet for every card. I can add ideas and interpretations and include a date, and that way I always know where to find what I’m looking for. šŸ™‚

That’s an excellent way to track your thoughts. I love that idea and it’s important to remember that there is no set way to journal. I do tarot readings for myself weekly, but I also use Oracle cards daily and use those as inputs for journaling.

I’m only now starting to appreciate oracle cards. I have Seasons of the Witch Imbolc oracle, and I just went through the cards one by one each day during the Imbolc season with an online group I have. It was very insightful and really helped me focus on the season.
