Following Up with a One-Card Tarot Reading
Last week on Thursday, 3-6, I asked if anyone would like a one-card tarot reading in my post Ask Me a Question. I promised to respond in my blog post on Sunday (yesterday). I know it’s Monday – but I didn’t get a question until very early in the morning today, and I am so glad I did! The question came from ‘Fancy Starfish’ (WordPress id), asking ‘What would my higher self would like me to know?’

Thank you – Fancy Starfish! I pulled two cards – one from the Rider Waite Tarot Deck (my favorite) and one from the Wisdom of the Oracle deck by Colette Baron-Reid. I always use the Rider Waite deck for my tarot readings and lately the Wisdom of the Oracle has been my go-to oracle card deck, although I have several others that I will reach for depending on the circumstances. A video of my reading is at the end of this post.
Whenever I read, I shuffle my deck at least three times while asking my question. As I was doing this today, in preparation to pull a card, I repeatedly saw the Devil card, as well as several swords. This gave me the impression that my querent (Fancy Starfish) is going through a difficult period. The Devil indicates being weighed down by lower vibrational energies. It is associated with lust, greed and being ensnared by harmful habits or attachments. This wasn’t in my reading, this was in the set-up, and I like to pay attention to what I’m seeing as I shuffle.
When I drew my card for the reading, my tarot deck gave me The Knight of Wands. The Knights typically indicate change in readings. They are interpreted as the beginning or the ending of a chain of events. If you look at the imagery for the Knight of Wands, you’ll see a handsome, young knight charging forward on a fiery horse full of energy and zeal. My interpretation of this in light of the question is that Fancy Starfish can expect to have a challenging situation leave or culminate leading to a new beginning in a more positive environment and a improved experience to unfold. Simply put, Fancy Starfish: You’re higher self wants you to know that better times are coming soon. Be excited and enthusiastic about any changes you face as they will bring in a breath of fresh air and positive energy.
Following this, I read from the Wisdom of the Oracle. The card I pulled from this deck was #30 Tick-Tock. The essential meaning of this card is timelessness, divine timing, immeasurable time. For more of this card’s meaning, you can watch the video below.
I interpret the Oracle card Tick-Tock to be supportive of the Knight of Wands message. It suggests to me that Fancy Starfish is in at an end of one season and coming into another which promises to bring positive changes. The timing of this change most likely feels overdue from the difficulties that were encountered, but on the timeline of the soul, it is right on time. The reason for this is because you are the one controlling your timeline. Change often happens when the pain of staying where you are is greater than the pain of moving into the unknown. Take that first step, what you want is out there and ready to greet you.
It’s important to know that all tarot readers will read the cards differently and have a different method to their readings. If you’ve been to a reader and their process was much different than mine, that’s okay. The cards are a conduit for our guides to speak to us and to tell us what your guides have to say. The most important part is that the person the reading is for is getting valuable insight from the reading. To that end: Fancy Starfish – if you’re reading this, I hope you will let us know in the comments how you feel about this reading.
If anyone else has a question about this reading or if you have a question that I can answer with a one card reading, please ask away in the comments!
Light and Love ❤
